Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at the York Region District School Board. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of our school facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Construct, finish, and install millwork, including building modifications and repairs
  • Prepare project cost estimates and oversee construction projects
  • Maintain building infrastructure, including painting and minor drywall repairs
  • Conduct preventative maintenance checks and repairs
  • Schedule and prioritize workloads on a daily basis
  • Ensure compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and employer policies
Requirements
  • Grade 12 Journeyman certificate in carpentry (minimum 2 years of experience as a certified journeyman or an equivalent combination of experience and education)
  • Technical courses related to the journeyman discipline (an asset)
  • Power engineering courses (an asset)
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Operator's Licence
  • First Aid, WHMIS, & TDG Certification
  • Proficiency with various types of software, including email and work-order systems
  • Understanding of BAS (building automation systems)
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position, working in a fast-paced environment with a focus on maintaining school facilities. The successful candidate will be required to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality workmanship.
