Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Childhood Educator to join our team at OPEN BOOK DAYCARE CENTRES INC. as a Child Development Specialist. This is a permanent position, working 30 hours per week, with a focus on promoting the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development: Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
  • Staff Supervision: Supervise staff, trainees, or volunteers, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality programs.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children, ensuring effective communication and coordination of activities.
  • Environment and Safety: Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children, adhering to all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Activity Planning: Plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours, ensuring a safe and engaging environment.
  • Observation and Reporting: Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors, providing recommendations for support and intervention.
  • Teamwork and Flexibility: Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment, working collaboratively with the team to achieve program goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • Education: College/CEGEP diploma or equivalent in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in a child-care setting, with a focus on program development and implementation.
  • Language: Fluency in English, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Personal Qualities: Punctuality, dependability, efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral communication, excellent written communication, flexibility, interpersonal awareness, judgement, reliability, team player, values and ethics, and ability to multitask.
