We are seeking a dedicated Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Coordinator to enhance our safety initiatives across North America. This role will primarily support the operations of Paladin Technologies and is essential in fostering a culture of safety within our organization.

The OHS Coordinator will work closely with the Director of OHS to develop and execute comprehensive OHS, Claims Management, and Recovery at Work programs. The primary objective is to cultivate a proactive safety culture by collaborating with the OHS team and colleagues to promote a secure working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the creation, implementation, and upkeep of a robust safety program across our operations, encouraging employee involvement.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert, providing precise OHS guidance to key stakeholders.
  • Support management in developing project-specific OHS documentation to comply with client and legislative standards; evaluate existing plans and suggest enhancements as needed.
  • Identify potential health and safety risks within our operations; analyze causes and effects, and formulate strategies to mitigate these hazards.
  • Compile and present OHS statistics in a clear format for management review.
  • Contribute to the development of training materials for management, supervisors, and staff regarding health and safety regulations and practices.
  • Maintain and update contractor compliance portal accounts.
  • Participate in investigations of employee accidents and unsafe conditions, analyzing causes and recommending corrective actions.
  • Assist local departments with workers' compensation claims and the creation of 'return to work' plans.
  • Occasional travel may be required, but will remain minimal.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as the role evolves.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Degree/Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Safety Engineering, or Industrial Hygiene, or equivalent experience in construction safety.
  • Minimum of 1 year of progressive experience in Occupational Health and Safety within the construction sector.
  • Fundamental knowledge of corporate OHS program administration.
  • Understanding of OHS regulations and best practices in various Canadian provinces and US states.

Preferred:

  • Experience in Occupational Health and Safety in a multi-location construction environment.
  • Preference for candidates pursuing a professional Environmental Health & Safety designation.
  • Experience in developing or revising corporate OHS programs and policies.
  • Familiarity with contractor compliance online platforms.
  • Basic knowledge of ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 standards.
  • Experience with learning management systems and conducting training gap analyses.

Competencies:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to engage and maintain effective relationships with management, employees, and clients.
  • Proficient in English communication.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications.
  • Flexibility in working hours as required by the role.
  • Solid understanding of business practices relevant to the industry.

Compensation: $55,000 - $75,000 based on experience.
