Audit Quality Director

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Director of Audit to join our team at CB Canada. As a key member of our Assurance Group, you will play a critical role in supporting our financial reporting, issue resolution, technical accounting support, and quality control processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical guidance and support to professional staff on accounting and assurance-related matters
  • Conduct quality monitoring reviews of engagement files for financial statements under Canadian Accounting Standard for Private Enterprises (ASPE), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP)
  • Stay up-to-date with new standards and their application, conducting research and attending relevant educational courses
  • Prepare comments on new standards issued by CPA Canada
  • Develop and deliver training programs for staff and executives, including course development and instruction
  • Prepare and present seminars or informational fact sheets to clients on relevant accounting pronouncements
  • Contribute to thought leadership and share functional and industry knowledge with colleagues and teams
  • Promote a culture of progressiveness, flexibility, and inclusiveness
  • Promote firm expertise and services
Requirements
  • A minimum of 8 years' experience in assurance-related professional services
  • Strong technical background in ASPE, IFRS, Generally Accepted Auditing Standards, CSRE 2400 Review Engagements, and CSRS 4200 Compilation Engagements
  • Sound technical background in US GAAP would also be considered an asset
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
  • Strong research, organizational, and project management skills
  • Completion of the CPA, CA designation
  • Experience in presenting internal training courses and/or external presentations
  • Technical experience with CaseWare would be considered an asset
  • Ability to build strong and meaningful connections with colleagues and clients, based on trust and respect
  • A desire to learn and adapt in a challenging environment
  • Audit background is preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
