Role Summary

What is the opportunity?

The Product Control Manager for Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) will deliver high-quality analytical support to the European Central Funding Group by executing daily mark-to-market assessments, profit and loss (P&L) reporting, and reconciliations in a precise and timely manner. This position will collaborate with various teams including Front Office, Middle Office, Information Technology, Trading Processing, and Financial Control to facilitate trading operations and ensure accurate daily P&L reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Daily P&L generation, month-end reporting, and reconciliations

  • Responsible for P&L production and analysis across one or multiple platforms within the organization.
  • Notify senior management of any discrepancies that may pose potential risks to the firm.
  • Prepare all monthly accounting entries to the General Ledger and perform reconciliations to ensure accuracy against the systems of record.
  • Collaborate closely with all members of the Product Control team, offering guidance and cross-training as necessary.
  • Identify and implement enhancements to valuation reports and proactively streamline processes to boost efficiency.
  • Conduct daily P&L and Balance Sheet reconciliations to ensure figures align with the systems of record.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of how various asset classes are managed by the Front Office systems.
  • Test new system updates and releases.
  • Provide necessary information to meet audit requests from both internal and external auditors.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of RBC operations and the functions of various business units across the organization.
  • Proactively monitor all operational issues related to the assigned trading portfolios.

Qualifications for Success

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Capital Markets.
  • Strong background in accounting.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Experience with Cash Funding products (Repos/RevRepos).
  • Knowledge of various asset classes including Interest Rate Swaps (IRS) and bonds.
  • Good understanding of investment products.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Able to perform effectively and reliably under pressure.
  • Advanced understanding of procedures and operational controls related to trading systems and workflows.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of the Canadian Securities Course.
  • CFA candidates or charter holders.

Core Competencies
