Position Overview

Role Summary

What is the opportunity?

The Corporate Product Control Manager will deliver high-quality support to the Corporate and Investment Banking sector by executing daily Profit and Loss (P&L) reporting and reconciliation in a precise and timely manner. This position will collaborate with various teams including Front Office, Middle Office, Information Technology, Trading Processing, Financial Control, and other operational units to facilitate trading activities and ensure accurate daily P&L production.

Key Responsibilities

Daily P&L generation, month-end reporting, and reconciliations

  • Responsible for P&L production and analysis across one or multiple platforms within the organization.
  • Notify senior management of any discrepancies that may pose potential risks to the firm.
  • Prepare all monthly accounting entries to the General Ledger and conduct reconciliations to ensure figures align with the systems of record.
  • Collaborate closely with all members of the Product Control team, offering guidance and cross-training as necessary.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance valuation reports and proactively streamline processes to boost productivity.
  • Conduct daily P&L and Balance Sheet reconciliations to ensure figures are accurately reflected in the systems of record.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of how various asset classes are managed by the Front Office systems.
  • Test new system update releases.
  • Provide information to meet audit requests from both internal and external auditors.
  • Develop an understanding of RBC operations and the functions of various business units across the organization.
  • Proactively monitor all operational issues related to the assigned trading portfolios.

Qualifications for Success

Essential Requirements

  • University Degree
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Product Control or a related field
  • Experience with Loan products and the fee recognition process.
  • Desirable product knowledge across various asset classes.
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Strong problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Able to work effectively and reliably under pressure
  • Advanced understanding of procedures and operational controls related to trading systems and workflows
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of the Canadian Securities Course
  • CFA Candidates or Charter holders
