About the Role

Reporting to the Shop Supervisor, the Aircraft Component Repair Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and airworthiness of our aircraft fleet. You will be responsible for the meticulous repair and maintenance of various aircraft components, contributing directly to Porter Airlines' commitment to operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute repairs and maintenance on a diverse range of aircraft parts and components, including batteries, wheels, leading edges, engines, propellers, auxiliary power units, and commissary equipment.
  • Perform maintenance tasks under the guidance of the Shop Lead ACA to achieve the required level for Shop Certification Authority (SCA).
  • Meticulously complete and certify repair orders, ensuring adherence to the latest amendments for aircraft batteries, tires, and wheels.
  • Champion safety protocols by upholding strict adherence to shop rules, regulations, and precautions. Maintain a clean and organized work environment at the end of each shift.
  • Proactively contribute to the training of new employees and apprentices, sharing your expertise and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
  • Stay abreast of the latest technical information relevant to the shop's operations.
  • Actively participate in Porter Airlines' Safety Management System (SMS), including hazard reporting, incident documentation, and promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Attend mandatory training sessions as required by the company.
  • Provide support for AOG (Aircraft On Ground) line maintenance when needed.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated mechanical experience is highly valued.
  • Ability to lift at least 23 kg (batteries, wheels, etc.).
  • Completion of approved training programs on applicable parts and components.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Canadian Aviation Regulations relevant to your duties.
  • Proven ability to make sound decisions, meet deadlines, and effectively manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Commitment to dependability with a clear attendance record and reliable punctuality.
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with a strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Eligibility to obtain an unrestricted airport security pass.
  • Valid full G Driver's License and a clean driver's abstract.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a high-performing team.
