Job Title: Human Resources Advisor

Coast Mountain College is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Advisor to join our team. As a key member of our HR department, you will provide expert advice and guidance on labour relations, recruitment and retention, employee well-being, benefits and leave management, disability case management, job descriptions, classifications, occupational health and safety, and learning and professional development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with HR/LR/PR team members to ensure effective communication and information flow
  • Lead the recruitment process, chair selection committees, and design evaluation tools
  • Provide coaching and advice on disciplinary processes and conflict resolution
  • Recommend approaches to achieve problem/conflict resolution and prevention
  • Advise on job description review processes and provide assistance with job description writing
  • Review and audit human resource practices to identify areas for improvement
  • Represent the department on various committees and organizations
Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, such as human resources management, from an accredited institution, along with a minimum of two years of progressive experience in a human resources role. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Additional Human Resources certifications are an asset.

Required skills, abilities, and knowledge include:

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, such as the Employment Standards Act, Labour Relations Code, Human Rights Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Freedom of Information & Protection of Privacy Act
  • Experience working with collective agreements and/or management terms and conditions of employment
  • Experience working in a unionized and/or post-secondary environment is an asset
  • Experience conducting investigations and conflict resolution is an asset
