About the Role

Acorn Family Place is seeking an experienced Executive Director to lead our organization in delivering high-quality community programs and services. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our operations, including programming, financial management, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Strategic Leadership: Provide visionary leadership to Acorn Family Place, ensuring alignment with our mission, vision, and strategic plan.
  2. Program Development and Delivery: Lead the development and successful delivery of community programs, services, and initiatives that meet the evolving needs of our community.
  3. Financial Management: Oversee the financial management of Acorn Family Place, including budgeting, financial reporting, and audit processes.
  4. Team Leadership: Lead a team of staff and volunteers, providing coaching, feedback, and performance management to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  5. Community Engagement: Foster strong relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and funders to build capacity and support the growth of Acorn Family Place.
  6. Fund Development: Develop and implement a comprehensive fund development plan, including corporate and individual donations, major gifts, and grants.
  7. Risk Management: Ensure Acorn Family Place operates in compliance with all legislative requirements, implementing risk mitigation strategies to safeguard program participants and staff.
  8. Organizational Ambassador: Serve as the ambassador of Acorn Family Place, building positive relationships with the community through speaking engagements, partnerships, and media relations.
Selection Criteria
  1. Leadership Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years in a leadership role, preferably in community or human development.
  2. Education and Experience: Post-secondary education in a relevant field, with a combination of education and related experience considered.
  3. Leadership Skills: Strong people leadership skills, including the ability to inspire others and manage conflicts and challenges.
  4. Community Experience: Experience working or volunteering in community-based or non-profit organizations, social services, or child development.
  5. Financial Management: Financial management experience, including budgeting and reporting, with oversight of capital projects an asset.
  6. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to adjust communication style and approach to the needs of diverse audiences.
  7. Technical Skills: Strong MS Office skills, including Microsoft 365, social media platforms, and collaboration tools.
  8. Flexibility: Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is required.
