Job Title: Cardiology Technologist

We are seeking a skilled Cardiology Technologist to join our team at Kelowna General Hospital in Kelowna, BC.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will work independently within a supportive team environment to perform duties related to cardiology testing, including ECG testing, stress testing, Holter and event monitoring, and pacemaker monitoring.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Explain procedures to prepare patients for testing, including ECG, stress testing, Holter monitoring, pacemaker monitoring, and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring.
  • Perform non-invasive examinations, such as ECG, stress testing, and Holter and event monitoring, by attaching electrodes to the patient, operating equipment, analyzing and recording relevant data for interpretation by cardiologist and/or internist.
  • Monitor patients and scan test strips during cardiograms and stress tests, taking appropriate action upon recognition of cardiac arrhythmias or other abnormalities in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Scan and analyze ECG, stress, Holter and event monitor, and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring test strips, selecting and assessing appropriate portions of test strips and summarizing for interpretation by medical staff in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Transfer and assign ECGs in ECG Cardiology Management systems (i.e. Tracemaster) for interpretation by medical staff.
  • Demonstrate ECG testing procedures and operation of related equipment as required.
  • Monitor ongoing departmental activity levels and assist fellow staff to meet requests for service.
  • Maintain statistics and files completed reports.
  • Maintain equipment by cleaning, lubricating and replacing items such as paper rolls, electrodes, and leads.
  • Participate in Quality Management and/or Quality Assurance programs (including LEAN projects/initiatives) by providing information and input to Manager (or designate).
  • Participate in the instruction/orientation of staff and/or students by assisting with departmental orientations, in-service presentations, demonstrating procedures and answering questions, as required.
  • Maintain and update own clinical knowledge within area of practice.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
