About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Industrial Utilities Lead to join our team at Convergint Technologies Ltd. in Fort McMurray. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of underground utilities piping systems, ensuring the highest level of quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Coordinator and Supervisor to develop and implement plans for exposing and repairing underground utilities piping systems.
  • Oversee scheduled work for daylighting of piping, excavation activities, dewatering services, sinking shoring boxes, and backfilling.
  • Work with the crew to identify leaks in potable, utility, and fire water systems, as well as other industrial piping systems.
  • Conduct non-destructive and destructive testing and compaction testing.
  • Develop job packages with QA and create isometric drawings for repair scopes, submitting them to Engineering for approval.
  • Perform repairs to HDPE piping and oversee fusion tech.
  • Manage inventory and procure required materials, coordinating equipment rentals as needed.
  • Work with reliability Engineers to propose corrective solutions.
  • Lead daily toolbox talks and oversee the team on the customer site, ensuring all planned work is handled in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Act as the customer's best service provider at all times, ensuring Convergint is the customer's first choice for service.
Requirements
  • Minimum of five years of previous relevant field experience required.
  • Significant experience working with underground utilities and civil construction is required.
  • Ground disturbance level 2.
  • Previous team leadership or management responsibility.
  • Must be a self-starter and work well with minimal supervision.
  • Strong coaching, mentoring, and staff development skills.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot problems and look for solutions.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Advanced organizational skills and the ability to keep tools and work area tidy.
  • Good computer skills, including familiarity with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Knowledge in SAP considered an asset.
  • Travel to and from jobsites is required. A valid driver's license and abstract is required.
