LPN Role in Long Term Care

At Mariposa Gardens Community & Retirement Living, we are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our care team. As an LPN, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality nursing care to our residents, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide nursing care in accordance with established policies, physician's orders, and resident plans of care.
  • Utilize sound nursing practice principles to deliver excellent nursing and personal care in assigned home areas.
  • Ensure the safekeeping and control of medications and narcotics, and follow protocols on all assigned shifts.
  • Create a comfortable and safe environment that promotes resident autonomy, independence, and individuality.
  • Optimize each resident's potential to achieve or maintain maximum functional ability.
  • Seek direction from the RN when resident needs exceed experience or scope of practice.
  • Exercise sound nursing judgment by reporting any change in resident status in a timely manner to the Registered Nurse.
  • Foster an atmosphere conducive to optimal care and effective functioning of assigned resident home areas through collaboration with other team members.
Requirements:
  • Diploma in Practical Nursing.
  • Current registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses BC.
  • Successful annual completion of RAI MDS certification as per Ministry of Health requirements for AIS.
  • Current First Aid with CPR.
  • All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check (applicable to Ontario applicants) and Criminal Records Check (applicable to British Columbia applicants).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Long Term Care Experience.
