About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Food Production Worker to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. As a key member of our food services team, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality meals to our patients, clients, and customers.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cooking and food preparation, with a minimum of one year of experience in a similar role. You will be required to work effectively in a team environment, following established policies and procedures, and to use sound professional judgment and initiative to solve problems.

About You
  • Grade XII or equivalent
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in cooking and food preparation
  • Successful completion of Food Handlers Course within the past five years
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with other staff, clients, and management
  • Willingness to learn, accept direction, and work effectively in a team environment following established policies and procedures
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Demonstrated ability to use sound professional judgment, initiative, and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness, and organizational health
  • Physical capabilities to perform duties of the position, including heavy lifting, working flexible hours, withstanding the demands of walking and standing during shifts, and working in an environment with heat and temperature fluctuations
  • Travel between sites will be required
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
