About the Role:

As a Psychiatric Care Assistant with Alberta Health Services, you will play a vital role in providing patient-centered care as a key member of our collaborative team. Your primary responsibility will be to follow the care plan, utilizing your knowledge, skills, and abilities to provide safe and competent care. You will be expected to adhere to AHS values, principles, and code of conduct, as well as comply with relevant legislation, regulations, and AHS policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide patient-centered care, following the care plan and facility policies and procedures.
  • Assist nurses with the provision of routine care, including hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs.
  • Observe and report on patient mood, health, and well-being.
  • Maintain effective communication with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Requirements:

  • Completion of Grade 12.
  • A combination of education and experience satisfactory to the employer.
  • Completion of Personal Care Aide or Mental Health Aide Certificate or equivalent.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in social sciences, psychology, or health services.
  • Experience working with persons with addiction and/or mental health issues in a hospital setting.
