Key Responsibilities
The Risk Management Division plays a crucial role in fostering the sustainable development of SGS Société Générale de Surveillance SA by leveraging its knowledge of risks and effective risk management strategies. The primary objective of this division is to independently evaluate, assess, manage, and oversee risk-related activities to ensure optimal outcomes for the organization. This division is responsible for monitoring various types of risks including enterprise, strategic, credit, market, liquidity, operational, model, and other risks associated with corporate and investment banking operations.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The risk professional we are looking for will engage actively in significant credit risk and counterparty credit risk projects within the region. This role, situated within the Portfolio Management and Governance team, will allow the successful candidate to directly participate in the evaluation of a portfolio comprising corporate and financial institution clients. Responsibilities will include identifying risk drivers, overseeing transversal projects linked to risk management, and spearheading innovation initiatives, in addition to managing pertinent governance committees. Collaboration with colleagues from other Credit Risk departments, such as the Credit Assessment Group and the Asset Restructuring & Recovery Management team, will be essential.
The ideal candidate should possess a solid grasp of credit risk methodologies and frameworks, assist the team in organizing and coordinating inputs from various subject matter experts, and contribute to enhancing risk oversight.
Daily Responsibilities:
The main duties include, but are not limited to:
- Portfolio Analysis and Reporting:
- Generate and/or assist in the preparation of key reports for Senior Management and Regulatory bodies.
- Evaluate and track the quality of the portfolio using essential Credit and Counterparty Credit Risk metrics, including stress tests, replacement risk, and debtor risk.
- Effectively communicate the changes in the risk profile of the portfolio, identifying risk drivers and emerging risks, while assessing cost of risk requirements.
- Conduct or contribute to ad hoc portfolio analyses using relevant risk metrics, focusing on specific sectors or risk factors influenced by economic and geopolitical conditions.
- Develop data-driven analyses and reports to enhance the effectiveness of credit risk management.
- Implement necessary controls to improve the quality of portfolio analysis, including quarterly Legal Lending Limit controls and monthly Concordance Table Controls.
- Collaborate with the Data Management Office to evaluate the quality of credit risk data and assist in resolving various data quality issues.
- Actively engage in the implementation of new regulatory guidelines.
- Coordination of Credit Risk Committees:
- Serve as the primary coordinator for Credit Risk during Regulatory reviews and requests.
- Act as the main coordinator for Credit Risk during Internal and External Audit reviews.
- As secretary for several feeder committees to the Credit Risk Committee, prepare and coordinate materials and contributions, presenting to key stakeholders including senior management.
- Manage contributions to the SGUS Credit Risk Committee and the SGUS Enterprise Risk Committee, including proposing annual risk appetite for credit risk and monitoring compliance.
- Governance and Digitalization:
- Contribute to the quarterly Watch List process, managing entries and exits, and conducting the annual Credit Trigger Back Testing exercise.
- Collaborate closely with the Asset Restructuring & Recovery Management team to coordinate and prepare provisioning information packages and ensure proper certification and booking of provisions.
- Encourage collaboration across Support Functions and Business Lines, enhancing alignment with Credit Risk at the Head Office.
- Ensure that Credit Risk policies and procedures are accurate and up-to-date.
- Enhance Credit Risk processes through automation and leverage the latest technologies and collaborative tools.
- Project Management:
- Lead or participate in defined projects or transversal initiatives, either as a Subject Matter Expert for Credit Risk or as a Project Manager.
- Contribute to the improvement of Credit Risk applications, systems, and databases.
- Implement change management initiatives within Credit Risk driven by strategic and organizational projects.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Strong knowledge of credit portfolio analysis and credit risk metrics.
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills.
- Ability to synthesize complex metrics and derive insights to communicate core information effectively.
- Familiarity with risk regulatory requirements and concepts.
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Finance, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python, along with strong skills in PowerBi for data visualization.
Desirable:
- Understanding of credit risk analysis methodologies.
- Experience in application/system development.
- Knowledge of credit risk assessment.
- Experience in project management with multiple stakeholders.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:
Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, is required as collaboration with colleagues and partners in the United States will be frequent.
