Position Summary

As an essential member of our team, reporting to the IPM Supervisor or their designate, the Integrated Pest Management Scout plays a crucial role in the early detection of pests, diseases, and plant health issues. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who is a self-starter and can collaborate effectively with a diverse group of professionals. The IPM Scout is part of a highly skilled and motivated team that values quality at every stage of the growing process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct daily monitoring and scouting for pests, diseases, and overall plant health.
  • Oversee the implementation of IPM protocols for pest and disease management.
  • Compile and prepare IPM and conventional reports for review.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of control measures in use.
  • Verify trends in pest and disease infestations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Plan and organize scouting duties as necessary.
  • Assist with additional tasks as required.

Qualifications:
  • Education and/or experience in horticulture, hydroponic vegetable, or cannabis greenhouse operations is preferred.
  • Pesticide license or Assistant's license is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with hydroponic cannabis pests and disease identification.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer use.
  • Must demonstrate honesty, flexibility, reliability, and respect for others.
  • A minimum of one year of hands-on experience in hydroponic vegetable or cannabis cultivation is required.

Work Environment:
  • The work environment may be warm and humid.
  • Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including a full-face mask and spray suit as necessary.
  • Regular lifting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Capability to perform repetitive tasks requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends.
