Job Title: Associate Underwriter

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Associate Underwriter to join our Underwriting team in Calgary. As an Associate Underwriter, you will be responsible for underwriting, marketing, maintaining, and growing an assigned portfolio of Middle Market Property and Casualty business within the Alberta & Prairies Region Underwriting team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Underwrite and analyze risk, negotiate policy terms and conditions, and confirm rate adequacy for Middle Market accounts with Elite and Partner brokers.
  • Maintain and expand Liberty broker relationships through regular marketing activities and the development of a pipeline of preferred Middle Market clients.
  • Work closely with other Liberty business units to leverage multi-line business opportunities.
  • Demonstrate effective prioritization of workload and provide superior customer service to our brokers and clients.
  • Continuous learning and development through attendance of industry events, relevant seminars, and courses, and learning from existing Liberty expertise.
Requirements:
  • University degree or equivalent post-secondary education with relevant insurance designations/education is an asset.
  • Related work experience in the insurance industry is considered an asset.
  • Self-starter with strong analytical skills, in addition to strong business and interpersonal communication skills required.
  • Superior relationship management and negotiation skills.
  • Comfortable with critical thinking and a growth mindset, with thoughtful consideration of diverse perspectives during decision-making and respectful of differences.
