Food Program Assistant

About the Opportunity
This role is part of the Ayás Mén̓men Child and Family Services Department, reporting directly to the Team Leader, Food Program. The successful candidate will work within the Ayás Mén̓men Food Program, specifically in the Growcer Hydroponic System, Food Pantry, and Food Garden. The primary responsibility will be to maintain, organize, and control the Growcer Hydroponic System, utilizing its automated features to ensure optimal system performance. This includes performing routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning grow trays, mixing nutrient solutions, and harvesting produce. Training will be provided on the Growcer system, basic troubleshooting procedures, and weekly technical calls. Additional duties will involve designing and implementing planting schedules, propagating, transplanting, maintaining, and harvesting plants, as well as post-harvest procedures. The candidate will also support other areas of the Food Program, including the S7ilhen Food Pantry and Food Garden, in delivering program outcomes.
What You Bring
- A combination of education and experience.
- Professional, adaptable communication style with strong interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of plant nutrient and modern fertigation techniques, knowledge of soilless culture techniques, and understanding of plant nutrition.
- Experience in cleaning and maintaining equipment, working with your hands, and working outdoors (occasionally).
- A high level of emotional intelligence, patience, and integrity.
- Maintains composure in high-pressure situations.
- Able to disseminate complex information to stakeholders.
- Resourceful and organized with excellent time management abilities.
- Able to deliver information with tact and diplomacy.
- Acts ethically and with the highest degree of confidentiality.

Salary: $22.51 - $24.70 per hour, plus a comprehensive benefit program.
