About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team as a Mental Health and Addictions Nurse. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide expert clinical advice and support to educators within our district school boards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide medical consultation to educators regarding issues related to medication management, mental illness, and addictions.
  • Liaise with children's mental health agencies and primary care practitioners as required.
  • Support educators to meet the complex medical and mental health needs of students who require extra support.
  • Advise educators on potential side-effects of different classes of medications.
Requirements
  • Membership, in good standing, with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Fluent in English and French an asset.
  • 2+ years of recent clinical experience in providing mental health and/or addictions services for children and youth.
  • Knowledge of the mental health and addictions service system for children and youth.
  • Advanced assessment and diagnostic reasoning skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid knowledge of healthcare-related legislation and practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, assessment, decision-making skills, and high flexibility.
  • Effective time management skills, with the ability to work independently and co-operatively in a busy multidisciplinary environment.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Proficient in a Windows environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Case management Certificate and/or case management experience; recent related community experience.
  • Experience working in schools.
  • Ability to speak French or another second language.
