We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team as a Mental Health and Addictions Nurse. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide expert clinical advice and support to educators within our district school boards.
Key Responsibilities- Provide medical consultation to educators regarding issues related to medication management, mental illness, and addictions.
- Liaise with children's mental health agencies and primary care practitioners as required.
- Support educators to meet the complex medical and mental health needs of students who require extra support.
- Advise educators on potential side-effects of different classes of medications.
- Membership, in good standing, with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Fluent in English and French an asset.
- 2+ years of recent clinical experience in providing mental health and/or addictions services for children and youth.
- Knowledge of the mental health and addictions service system for children and youth.
- Advanced assessment and diagnostic reasoning skills.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Solid knowledge of healthcare-related legislation and practices.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, assessment, decision-making skills, and high flexibility.
- Effective time management skills, with the ability to work independently and co-operatively in a busy multidisciplinary environment.
- A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Proficient in a Windows environment.
- Case management Certificate and/or case management experience; recent related community experience.
- Experience working in schools.
- Ability to speak French or another second language.
