Job Title: Mental Health and Addictions Nurse

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) with clinical expertise in providing mental health and addiction services for children and youth to join our team at Home and Community Care Support Services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide medical consultation to educators regarding issues related to medication management for students with complex medical conditions concurrent with mental illness or addiction.
  • Advise educators on potential side-effects of different classes of medications.
  • Liaise with children's mental health agencies and primary care practitioners as required.
  • Support educators to meet the complex medical and mental health needs of students who require extra supports for health and/or safety concerns.

Requirements:

  • Membership, in good standing, with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Fluent in English and French an asset.
  • 2+ years of recent clinical experience in providing mental health and/or addictions services for children and youth.
  • Knowledge of the mental health and addictions service system for children and youth.
  • Advanced assessment and diagnostic reasoning skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid knowledge of healthcare-related legislation and practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, assessment, decision-making skills, and high flexibility.
  • Effective time management skills, with the ability to work independently and co-operatively in a busy multidisciplinary environment.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Proficient in a Windows environment.
