Job Description

**Job Title:** Public Relations/Outreach Assistant

**Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Public Relations and Outreach Assistant to join our team at Ottawa Festival Network. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting our community outreach program, conducting research, and developing written and visual promotional materials.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Assist with initiatives to promote our community outreach program
  • Research groups working with diverse and underserved members of the community
  • Conduct outreach to schedule bookings for community groups to attend and participate in theatre and arts events
  • Assist in developing written and visual promotional materials
  • Assist in updating web sites and social media
  • Post information on online event sites to promote our activities
  • Create blogs, interviews, and taking photos and videos
  • Distribute printed and digital marketing materials
  • Respond to public enquiries accurately and promptly, assisting people to register and obtain tickets for events
  • Maintain and update databases (e.g. mailing and donor lists)
  • Assist the front of house manager
  • Assist with administrative duties as needed

**Requirements:**

  • Courses in Theatre, Marketing, Communications, Media/Public Relations or similar
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent telephone skills and dealing with community groups and the public
  • Outgoing, positive attitude in dealing with the public
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal)
  • Excellent digital skills (Mac, Microsoft Office, Canva, WordPress, etc.)
  • Experience with Social Media platforms
  • Ability to show initiative
  • Ability to work independently
