Marketing and Communications Officer

Odyssey Theatre is seeking a creative and dynamic Marketing and Communications Officer to promote a new community arts engagement series as part of our 38th season of theatre in Ottawa's Strathcona Park.

The Marketing and Communications Officer will work with the General Manager to create effective digital marketing and social media campaigns to promote performances and events in CREATE, our community outreach programs and special events.

This position will work remotely and at our office at Arts Court, 2 Daly Avenue in downtown Ottawa.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Planning and implementing marketing initiatives to promote our summer season;
  • Developing written and visual digital creative materials (including video);
  • Updating our web sites and social media;
  • Preparing and monitoring digital ads;
  • Creating blogs, interviews, and taking photos and videos;
  • Overseeing distribution of printed marketing materials;
  • Media relations and outreach.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Training/experience in marketing, communications, media/public relations, Theatre or similar;
  • Passion for the arts;
  • Excellent writing skills;
  • Strong communications skills dealing with the media, community groups and the public;
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal);
  • Excellent digital skills and experience with Social Media platforms;
  • Ability to show initiative and work independently.
