Job Title: Manager Engineering

Job Summary:

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of engineers and technical officers tasked with the economic life cycle management of the CANDU Steam Generators and Feeder Piping systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of engineers and technical officers to ensure the economic life cycle management of the CANDU Steam Generators and Feeder Piping systems.
  • Provide fitness-for-service assurance in compliance with the License and applicable codes and standards.
  • Participate in long-range planning for asset management and company generation planning.
  • Provide technical and consultative services, problem solving, technical advice and guidance, technical specifications, and related services to station/facility personnel, management and other interested parties.
  • Carry out managerial accountabilities for the work of a staff complement composed of professional and technical personnel.
  • Act as a coach and facilitator to create and sustain a non-threatening, supportive, team environment.
  • Establish clear and effective working relationships with subordinates.
  • Seek to improve work processes and cultivate an awareness of organisational changes.
  • Continually assess and maintain Ontario Power Generation (OPG) and Nuclear-specific governing documents, including policies, standards and procedures, in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required.
  • P. Eng License is considered an asset.
  • Strong leadership skills with a minimum of 6 years of management experience required.
  • Previous experience in a Nuclear environment is an asset.
  • Ability to communicate strategically, effectively and clearly with excellent oral and writing skills.
  • Demonstrated solid judgement with a strong business acumen with proven track records of achieving success.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment while effectively managing and adapting to ever-changing priorities.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to senior management and external stakeholders.
