Job Summary:

We are looking for a Facilities Engineer to oversee the facility, with a specific focus on commissioning and taking ownership of the electrical, HVAC, utilities, and manufacturing equipment systems. This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated individual with a strong background in facility management, electrical engineering, and construction within the pharmaceutical industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary engineering point of contact for overseeing the construction and planning phases of the facility, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to develop and execute facility construction plans, including electrical, HVAC, utilities, and manufacturing equipment systems.
  • Provide technical knowledge in electrical, HVAC, utilities, and manufacturing equipment systems to support the design, construction, and commissioning phases of the facility.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring coordination and integration with other departments and stakeholders.
  • Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical, HVAC, utilities, and pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to verify the quality, safety, and compliance of construction activities.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to identify facility requirements, including production, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance, and incorporate them into the facility systems.
  • Manage change requests, variations, and deviations during the construction process, ensuring proper documentation and communication with relevant parties.
  • Collaborate closely with procurement and supply chain teams to source equipment, materials, and services required for a CDMO facility.
  • Ensure proper handover and knowledge transfer from the construction phase to facility operations, including training and documentation of procedures and maintenance plans.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. A Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) designation is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in facility management, electrical engineering, and construction within the pharmaceutical or related industry, with a focus on electrical, HVAC, utilities, and manufacturing equipment systems.
  • Experience in validation of manufacturing and facilities equipment and machinery
  • Strong knowledge and expertise in electrical systems, HVAC systems, utilities, and manufacturing equipment, including power distribution, control systems, cleanroom environments, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, water, steam, compressed gas, and refrigeration systems.
  • Proven experience overseeing facility construction projects, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and quality control.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and stakeholders while maintaining strict timelines and budgets.
  • Comprehensive understanding of pharmaceutical regulatory requirements, including FDA, Health Canada, GMP and other applicable guidelines, specifically related to electrical, HVAC, utilities, and manufacturing equipment systems.
  • Strong leadership abilities, with experience in leading construction teams and coordinating with contractors and vendors.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and compliance in all aspects of facility construction and planning.
