Job Summary:

This position is responsible for assisting the Shift Engineer in the operation and maintenance of various systems within the Roquette plant, including steam, refrigeration, compressed air, plant water, domestic water, fire suppression, and natural gas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Shift Engineer in the operation and maintenance of industrial systems.
  • Perform mechanical repairs and troubleshooting in all areas as directed by the Shift Engineer.
  • Participate in continuous improvement programs to enhance plant efficiency and safety.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all matters pertaining to the Roquette plant and its operations.
  • Ensure safe operation of activities and conduct self in a professional and safe manner.
  • Assist with the isolation of equipment for service, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Develop and implement energy control procedures and safe work practices.
  • Participate in investigations, education programs, and safety meetings to promote a safe work environment.
  • Monitor and maintain industrial equipment, including air compressors, air dryers, and air intake systems.
  • Operate and maintain refrigeration systems efficiently and effectively within manufacturer specifications.
  • Issue confined space entry permits and participate in lockout/tagout procedures as required.
  • Perform assigned responsibilities during plant evacuations due to fire and gas.

Requirements:

  • Must hold a valid Class 3 Power Engineer license and be working towards Class 2.
  • 5 years' experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in operating large utilities facilities, including power distribution, steam generation, vacuum systems, compressed air systems, water distribution systems, fire protection systems, and refrigeration systems.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Control room experience, including monitoring complex processes and coordinating critical activities.
  • Maintenance experience, including prioritizing asset maintenance to ensure plant reliability.
  • Ability to work under extreme conditions, including hot, wet, and cold environments, noise, and confined spaces.
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, catwalks, and work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to use personal protective equipment, including respirators, SCBA, and safety harness.
