About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Actuarial Associate to join our team at Oxford Properties Group. As a key member of our Actuarial Services team, you will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of our pension plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review benefit calculations, including actuarial and subject matter support for the Pensions team.
  • Organize and interpret membership data files for actuarial valuation purposes.
  • Use internal actuarial valuation systems to generate results for annual funding valuations and other scenarios.
  • Prepare reports and presentation materials for senior management and the AC and SC Boards.
  • Collaborate with the Finance team on actuarial forecasts and the Risk team on risk metric calculations.
  • Assist the Strategy & Actuarial team with technical and analytical activities, including trend and sensitivity analyses, benefit provision utilization analyses, and actuarial studies.
  • Develop and test systems and analytical tools to maintain top-tier delivery of in-house actuarial services.
  • Use knowledge of OMERS pension plan texts and administration practices to raise, triage, or resolve issues.
  • Assist with the review of accuracy and completeness of publications, communication materials, and financial statements.
  • Stay up-to-date on regulatory/policy changes, new OMERS initiatives, and trends in the actuarial profession and pension industry.
Requirements
  • University degree in actuarial science, statistics, or mathematics.
  • Demonstrated progress towards Associateship/Fellowship of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries.
  • Two to five years of pension or financial industry work experience.
  • Knowledge of Canadian pension legislation.
  • Highly analytical abilities with a mathematical aptitude and understanding of actuarial principles, statistical concepts, and interest theory.
  • Strong client-service attitude, team spirit, and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage workload, deliver accurate work, and maintain attention to detail.
  • Ability to identify and implement process enhancements or automate tasks to ensure efficient delivery of activities.
  • Strong aptitude for technology, including proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and actuarial valuation software.
