Clinical Psychologist

As a Psychologist I with Alberta Health Services, you will have the opportunity to work with the COAST Kids Outreach program to provide outreach support and stabilization services to neurodiverse children and their families after being discharged from inpatient mental health. The program operates collaboratively among a multidisciplinary team, providing outreach support for neurodiverse children based on trauma-informed, developmental, and patient-centered care models.
Description:As a Psychologist I, you will work with or within teams to provide a range of standard-level psychology services to patients and their families within the established standards, directives, and policies for the work environment. Your services may include psychological screening and/or assessment, diagnosis, interventions, rehabilitation, prevention, and promotion, as well as educational activities. You will collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals in planning and implementing services that align with best practices and ethical and professional standards.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide psychological screening and/or assessment, diagnosis, interventions, rehabilitation, prevention, and promotion services to patients and their families.
- Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals in planning and implementing services.
- Provide input to the interprofessional team related to psychological factors, barriers, and dynamics that influence client treatment planning, participation, outcomes, and team functioning.
- Consult and collaborate with teams and community services.
- Provide supervision to psychometrists, provisional psychologists, and/or masters-level psychology students.
- Master's degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from an accredited university program.
- Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).
- At least two years previous experience as a psychologist in mental health, including neurodiverse children (Autism, Intellectual disability, FASD, ADHD, etc.).
- At least two years' experience with formal assessment (psychoeducational, developmental, and/or psychological) including neurodiverse children.
- Brain Story and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification.
- Knowledge of child development, assessment, and treatment, family therapy, group therapy, and case management in mental health care of youth.
- Knowledge of family-based interventions and strategies in treating children with mental health challenges.
- Experience providing mental health services independently in the context of a multidisciplinary team.
- Previous experience supervising and providing direction to students and/or unregulated multidisciplinary team members.
