Job Title: Director of Marine Operations

City Experiences is seeking a seasoned Marine leader to manage and lead the Marine department. This includes vessel operations, capital improvements, systems maintenance and repairs, and financial management of the marine department.

About the Opportunity:

The Director, Marine Operations is responsible for the execution of the Port's cruises to ensure consistently high levels of safety, quality, service, and customer satisfaction while maintaining a high level of profitability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direction and leadership of the Marine Operations Department
  • Project lead during new vessel builds, equipment upgrades, vessel maintenance and repair
  • Management of capital purchasing and departmental budget
  • Compliance with provincial, federal and industry specific legislation and company standards
  • Management of external relationships with authorities, regulators, local stakeholders, contractors, suppliers and consultants
  • Selection, purchase and specification of major equipment and materials
  • Maintenance of industry knowledge of best practices, new technologies and systems
  • Accountability for Marine Operations crew to implement systems, plans and control of records and documentation
  • Review and recommendation of updates to departmental policies, procedures and plans
  • Development and maintenance of company vessel security plan and safety management system
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in marine operation, preferably in the hospitality industry
  • Minimum 5 years managing and leading employees
  • Post-secondary education at an accredited maritime college or other institution preferred
  • Minimum Master 150 Gross Tonnage, Domestic Certificate
  • Minimum 5 years of boat handling experience required
  • SVMO Certificate (training provided)
  • Current Marine Advanced First Aid
  • Current Transport Canada approved medical
  • Strong leadership, customer service, organizational and planning skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including conflict resolution skills
  • Possession of a current Ontario driver's license and satisfactory driving record
