About the Role

Ghsystems is seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Linux Systems Specialist to join our Managed Services group in the Toronto office. This is a full-time hybrid position that requires a strong understanding of Linux operating systems and cloud infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Delivery: Participate in the technical delivery of Managed Services to internal and external customers, ensuring timely and effective resolution of incidents and changes.
  • Infrastructure Strategy: Develop and implement technical solutions based on infrastructure strategy, aligning with company goals and objectives.
  • IT Infrastructure Management: Monitor and maintain IT infrastructure systems to ensure they remain operational and secure, adhering to best practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • User Account Management: Perform administration on user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage assignment, ensuring seamless access and security.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify areas of continuous service improvement and contribute to ongoing projects as assigned, driving innovation and excellence.
  • Infrastructure Team Collaboration: Participate and collaborate with the infrastructure team in the management and deployment of Servers, Storage, Networking equipment, and automation of routine tasks.
  • Training and Mentorship: Train and mentor junior staff when needed, fostering growth and development within the team.
  • After-Hours Support: Provide after-hours support based on the scheduled rotation or as needed, ensuring seamless service delivery.
Requirements
  • Linux Expertise: Strong understanding of Linux operating systems, particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS or Ubuntu.
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Expertise in setting up and managing Linux based solutions On-Prem and on Cloud infrastructure, preferably IBM Cloud environment.
  • Security Concepts: Understanding of On-Prem and Cloud-security concepts including Firewalls, VPCs, Encryption and identity and access controls.
  • Monitoring and Logging: Experience with monitoring and logging tools like Manage Engine, Nagios or IBM Cloud Monitoring.
  • Troubleshooting: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cloud infrastructure, networking, and applications running on Linux.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to interact with clients, understand their requirements, and provide timely support and solutions.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and learn new tools and techniques to stay updated in the rapidly changing cloud/on-prem infrastructure landscape.
  • Configuration Management: Knowledge of configuration management tools like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet for managing and provisioning infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: University degree/diploma in Computer Science/Information Technology or an equivalent education program.
  • Red Hat Certification: Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) - Linux administration.
  • IBM PowerVS: Knowledge of the IBM PowerVS platform.
  • Automation Tools: Experience with automation tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
  • Scripting Languages: Experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Python.
  • ITSM Ticketing Tool: Experience with an ITSM ticketing tool – Service Now.
