Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned Infrastructure Specialist to join our team at InSync Systems Inc. as a 12-month contract position, with possible extensions. The ideal candidate will be legally entitled to work in Canada.

The work schedule is 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week, and we are open to on-site, hybrid, or remote work arrangements.

Role Overview

Our client is looking for an experienced Infrastructure Specialist with a minimum of 8 years of experience in IT infrastructure design and implementation. The successful candidate will possess skills in IT infrastructure design and implementation, system administration, and security management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Plan Architecture: Design and plan the architecture of IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, and networks.
  • Hardware Installation and Configuration: Oversee hardware installation, evaluate, and configure physical hardware (servers, storage devices) and software operating systems.
  • System Administration: Responsible for system administration, including managing and configuring servers and networks to ensure optimal security measures are implemented.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor systems for performance and errors.
  • Data Protection: Implement data protection by implementing backup strategies and mitigation practices.
  • Security Management: Administer security management by identifying, implementing, and monitoring alert and detection systems and database servers.
  • Application Server Administration: Stand up, configure, monitor, and tune industry-standard application servers (JBOSS).
  • Virtualization and Cloud Administration: Administer, operate, and implement VM environments and cloud environments.
  • Database Administration: Design, implement, and update database environments, including operational administration, maintenance, and backups.
  • Collaboration and Documentation: Collaborate with stakeholders to document essential and critical services, foundational infrastructure, ongoing, and emergency processes.
  • Security Risk Assessments: Conduct Hazard Risk Vulnerability Assessments (HRVA) and Business Impact Analysis (BIA) and other security risk assessments.
  • Business Continuity Planning: Develop and refine BCP and DR plans related to critical services and infrastructure, such as WAN services, hosted server and application services, data center, and WAN environments, cloud environments.
  • Emergency Management: Implement, test, and audit EM, BCM, and DR plans and solutions.
Requirements
  • Education: Education at the University or Technical Institute level in one of the following: Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Technology.
  • Experience: Minimum 8 years of experience as an Infrastructure Technical Analyst.
  • Vendor Management: Minimum 5 years of experience managing and holding third-party vendors accountable.
  • System Migration: Minimum 5 years of experience with system migration/data migration projects.
  • IT and Telecom Experience: Minimum of 3 years of IT and telecom experience preferred, with experience within the last 7 years.
  • Project Management: Proven experience in managing and prioritizing large, multiple complex projects, including but not limited to SSO, VPN, Performance, Monitoring, Tuning.
  • Cloud Infrastructure Certification: Cloud Infrastructure Certification is an asset (GCP, Azure).
  • Network Security Certification: Network Security Certification is an asset (CISSP, CompTIA).
