Corporate Counsel Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled Corporate Counsel to join our legal team. The successful candidate will provide expert counsel and legal advisory services to AMD in HR and labor-related matters for our Canadian locations. This role will also involve providing employment law guidance on certain multi-jurisdictional employment law project areas, such as disability accommodation processes, coordinating with outside counsel and other team members as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide employment law guidance for the full employment lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and termination.
- Offer statutory and other HR-compliance guidance in Canada, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Develop and implement strategies for multi-jurisdictional employment law project areas, such as disability accommodation processes.
- Support mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activities in employment law areas as assigned, leveraging prior experience in this area.
- Train clients and business groups on employment law topics of importance, ensuring they are equipped to navigate complex employment law issues.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant experience as a practicing lawyer with in-house or industry-specific legal experience in Canada is strongly preferred.
- A progressive work history with in-house and/or private practice experience, providing legal counsel to clients for employment law matters in Canada, is essential.
- Proficiency in partnering with clients to provide practical solutions while mitigating risk is crucial.
- Experience in advising on international employment law matters and working remotely with clients, colleagues, and business partners in the US and other international regions is an advantage.
Academic Credentials:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) is required.
- Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario is essential.
