General Laboratory Support Staff

Position Title: Laboratory Support I (General)

Work Schedule: Regular Part-Time, with shifts covering days, evenings, and nights, ensuring 7-day/week availability.

Primary Responsibilities: Under the guidance of Charge Technologists, the Laboratory Support I will assist in various functions throughout the laboratory. Key areas of involvement include:

  • Core Laboratory
  • Histology
  • Microbiology

Core Duties: Responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Phlebotomy and specimen collection
  • Patient registration processes
  • Media inoculation tasks
  • Inventory management of supplies
  • Histology slide labeling and distribution
  • Filing and disposal of tissue samples

Reporting Structure: This position reports directly to the Manager of the Laboratory.

Compensation: Salary range to be determined.

Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Assistant/Technician
  • Completion of an accredited MLA training program and successful passing of the CSMLS or MLPAO MLA examination

Experience: Preference will be given to candidates with recent experience in a comparable environment.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in microbiology procedures
  • Skilled in phlebotomy techniques
  • Knowledgeable in various specimen collection methods
  • Computer literacy
  • Organized and self-motivated
  • Able to work collaboratively and under supervision
  • Effective communication skills
