Job Summary:
First Student Canada-Transco is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Transit Driver to join our team in Orillia and Midland. As a Transit Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting passengers and maintaining the appearance of the interior of the bus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive a transit vehicle in a safe, courteous, and reliable manner throughout the contracted service area.
- Maintain a strong attendance record and perform pre/post trip vehicle inspections as required.
- Assist passengers with wheelchairs or other mobility aids and secure them properly.
- Notify dispatch of any deviations, accidents, or mechanical issues.
- Collect fares and provide information to passengers as needed.
- Complete written reports concerning passengers and accidents.
- Operate on-board computer destination signs and assume other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Class BZ or CZ driving license, clear driver abstract, and background check.
- First Aid certification and transit experience an asset.
- Good verbal communication skills and ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Ability to work under stress and meet strict timelines.
- Ability to work rotating shift hours, including weekends.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes in schedule and route.
- Subject to wet, cold, and/or hot environmental conditions.
- Subject to vehicle noise and vibration while operating transit vehicle.
- Subject to vehicle exhaust fumes and odors, road dusts, and mist.
