The successful candidate will manage high-profile projects within Jobs, Economy and Trade that have a positive impact on our employees, our partners, and the people we serve. This includes leading and coordinating a portfolio of corporate-level projects, implementing corporate programs within the ministry, and providing direct support to executive leadership for crucial projects.

The Corporate Initiatives Lead will be responsible for:

  • Leading and managing corporate initiatives using sound project management principles and approaches to ensure that the ministry meets its targets.
  • Engaging and motivating cross-divisional participation and input while executing corporate initiatives.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the impact of corporate initiatives on a regular basis, with a view to improve tracking and projected performance.

To be successful in this role, you will need to be a strong communicator (verbally and in writing) and able to build relationships throughout the ministry to influence and support outcomes. You will also need to have political acumen, agility, and the ability to approach politically sensitive matters in a confidential, proactive, and positive manner.

Qualifications

Minimum Recruitment Standards

  • University graduation in a related field plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below.

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
  • The Corporate Initiatives Lead requires knowledge and understanding of:
  • Knowledge of project management, issues management, stakeholder relations, and managing sensitive information in a complex policy environment.
  • Knowledge of approaches related to management and business theories, models, and principles in order to apply appropriate theoretical frameworks to the development and implementation of projects.
  • Understanding of the ministry's strategic context, particularly Government of Alberta strategic directions and priorities on Information Technology and the GoA Occupational Health and Safety Program.
  • In-depth understanding of complex policy and delivery systems within the Ministry including its service delivery partners, not-for-profit and private sectors, and multiple levels of government, which interact in the areas of employment, training, labour relations, worker rights, and workplace health and safety, and child care.

This is a permanent position and the hours of work are a total of 36.25 hours.
