Hitachi Energy Canada Inc. is a leading provider of power grid solutions, committed to advancing a sustainable energy future. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Transformer Design Engineer to join our growing team in the transformer repair and service business.

Responsibilities:
  • Execute comprehensive electrical designs for the repair of transformers ranging from 10 to 1000 MVA, encompassing legacy technologies such as ABB/GE/Westinghouse or ASEA, including industrial transformers.
  • Conduct in-depth engineering design studies (thermal, dielectric, etc.) on existing transformers and provide technical support for field service operations.
  • Plan and coordinate engineering analyses and tests, generating detailed reports and summaries for review.
  • Collaborate effectively with the engineering team to ensure project success.
  • Provide essential support to the transformer repair factory and participate in on-site transformer inspections.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering.
  • P. Eng. Designation is highly desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years of proven experience in transformer design.
  • Experience with special transformers (furnace, rectifier, shell) electrical design is a significant asset.
  • Familiarity with Hitachi Energy electrical design tools and standards or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in transformer electrical design calculations.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as a self-starter with exceptional planning, organization, and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate technical information.
  • Proven aptitude for formulating solutions to complex technical challenges.
