The Financial Compliance team is responsible for designing and executing a variety of projects aimed at evaluating the adherence of independent service providers to CLBC's contractual obligations and monitoring the effectiveness of internal financial controls.

Your Responsibilities:

As a Financial Compliance Specialist at CLBC, you will analyze financial data from service providers and conduct audits to ensure compliance with CLBC's standards for service delivery and financial reporting. This role is vital in providing insights to regional operations, assisting in financial assessments, contract funding recommendations, and reviews of service-level controls.

Your key duties will include:

  • Conducting audit procedures to assess service providers' compliance with contractual obligations regarding service delivery and funding utilization.
  • Evaluating audit findings and exercising professional judgment to identify and resolve issues.
  • Preparing audit documentation and drafting reports that include recommendations for process improvements.
  • Identifying control weaknesses and opportunities for enhancing financial and operational policies to mitigate risks.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of improvements to CLBC's funding and accountability policies.

We seek individuals who are collaborative, proactive, and apply sound judgment in their work. This position is ideal for those who possess strong analytical skills.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of auditing standards and financial compliance practices.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in auditing or financial compliance.
  • Experience with statistical sampling techniques.
  • Proficiency in computerized financial systems, spreadsheets, and word processing software.
  • A professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA) is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Work Arrangement: This position offers a hybrid work model, allowing for a combination of on-site and remote work within BC.

Travel Requirements: Occasional overnight travel may be necessary throughout BC.

Additional Information:
Team: Risk and Compliance
Status/Term: Auxiliary. Regular-status staff may fill this position as a temporary assignment.
Classification/Salary: Financial Officer R24 / starting hourly rate is competitive.
