Heavy Duty Technician Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Technician to join our team at GFL Environmental. As a Heavy Duty Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our heavy-duty diesel and alternative fuel trucks and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate, repair, rebuild, and maintain company-owned heavy-duty diesel and alternative fuel trucks and equipment.
  • Ensure the safe operation of rolling stock to support waste removal and environmental services provided by our drivers.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, diagnose and repair operational difficulties, and complete administrative duties.
  • Plan and schedule repairs, review mechanical write-ups, and assist in coordinating repair schedules.
  • Respond to service calls and emergent situations in the field.

Requirements:

  • Journeyman designation or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Provide own tools and willingness to acquire tools as required for jobs.
  • Red Seal is preferred but not required.
  • Be computer literate, trainable on software systems, and willing to learn.
  • Meet safety-sensitive function criteria according to company standards.
  • Have the ability to use diagnostic software (a plus).
  • Follow detailed instructions, work independently, and maintain accurate records.
  • Operate any vehicle or equipment necessary to perform the job.
  • Possess the physical ability to perform all aspects of the job.
