We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at Northern Health Authority. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to individuals in need of mental health and substance use services.
Key Responsibilities- Provide ongoing intensive outreach nursing care, case management, and mental health and substance use support services to assigned clients.
- Design, implement, and monitor individual treatment plans to maximize community functioning and reduce re-hospitalization.
- Work in close association with inter-professional community mental health and substance use staff, emergency services, Indigenous partners, and community service providers.
- Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant or a practicing RPN registrant.
- Minimum 2 years nursing experience in mental health and substance use programming or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Assessment and Intervention skills, including the ability to complete initial and ongoing client assessments and provide nursing care through appropriate and prescribed technical, therapeutic, and safety-type interventions.
- Communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, the public, medical staff, and the members of the interdisciplinary team using verbal, written, and computer communication means.
- Critical Thinking skills, including the ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data from multiple sources to problem-solve effectively.
- Human Caring and Relationship Centered Practice skills, including the ability to promote client-focused care that demonstrates care for and with clients and significant others, sensitive to diverse cultures and preferences, client advocacy, and social justice concerns.
- Culturally Safe and Trauma Informed Care skills, including the ability to create culturally safe, trauma-informed healthcare settings through individualized care planning and collaborative approaches to service provision, including Indigenous health services as possible.
- Teaching skills, including the ability to transmit information intended to instruct clients and others about topics essential to healthcare and well-being.
- Management skills, including the ability to manage time and resources, implement activities to promote cooperation among relevant others, collaboration across disciplines, and related activities.
- Leadership skills, including the ability to promote staff morale, cooperation, assertiveness, and risk-taking, creative planning for change and innovations, implementation of NH policies or other protocols, and ongoing professional development of self.
- Knowledge Integration skills, including the ability to use factual information, prior learning, and basic principles and procedures to support decisions and actions with relevant research-based evidence.
