The successful candidate will play a vital role in our team, embracing the Integrated Collaborative Practice model. You will have the opportunity to engage in constructive mentorship and coaching that aims to enhance patient-centered care. You will utilize your clinical reasoning skills and the ability to prioritize multiple demands, both independently and collaboratively, to ensure the effective development, implementation, and ongoing management of patient care plans. As an LPN, you will assess the holistic needs of patients and their families, delivering professional nursing care that aligns with the philosophy, objectives, and standards of Cancer Care Alberta and CANO practice standards.
The CCI is committed to providing comprehensive cancer services for the region, aiming to lead in research and best practices through innovative technologies and collaborative efforts to optimize patient care. Our dedicated medical teams, staff, and volunteers strive to deliver compassionate and advanced care, making a significant impact on the lives of patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will be an integral part of an interprofessional healthcare team, employing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Your practice will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated competencies, and organizational policies and procedures. You will be responsible for providing safe, high-quality, patient- and family-centered care while embodying the shared vision and values of Alberta Health Services.
Required Qualifications: - Completion of an accredited practical nursing education program.
- Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
- Experience in caring for oncology and hematology patients.
- Experience in administering systemic treatments (chemotherapy, immunotherapy, cellular therapy).
- Familiarity with collaborative care models.
- Experience with blood product administration and care for peripheral and central venous access devices, as well as wound care.
- Palliative care certification or relevant experience.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Experience with Connect Care.
