WGL Holdings, Inc. - Senior Director of Core Financial Operations

The Senior Director of Core Financial Operations is the primary business resource accountable for achieving the defined business objectives within the program. This executive leader will be instrumental in facilitating change within the Finance division. The key responsibility will be to oversee and execute strategic initiatives that improve business functions, encourage innovation, and meet both short-term and long-term objectives. This individual will work closely with cross-departmental teams, senior management, and external collaborators to ensure the successful implementation of the transformation initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure alignment in the Core Financial Vision across WGL Holdings' main business areas by coordinating essential finance stakeholders on a target operational model, a target architecture that supports efficient finance execution, and a unified reporting framework and chart of accounts.
  2. Promote process efficiency and effectiveness while aligning target processes across finance for relevant Core transactional Finance Processes.
  3. Collaborate with key strategic partners to realize the CTF vision, working alongside solution implementation partners and broader program leadership to produce effective deliverables.
  4. Serve as the accountable leader for finance in the daily management of the program, engaging relevant finance stakeholders and ensuring that key requirements and functional needs are met.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Management Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Preference for accounting accreditation (CPA, CFA, or equivalent) in Canada or the United States.
  3. A minimum of ten years of relevant experience in Finance leadership roles, ideally with experience in Finance system implementations, operational model design, chart of accounts design, system architecture, and master data management.
  4. Prior experience leading a significant system transformation project or related experience.
  5. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
  6. Experience collaborating with third-party vendor support resources to determine the appropriate build versus buy strategy.
  7. Experience in the utility and energy sector is preferred but not mandatory.
  8. Ability to influence without formal authority, effectively interacting and communicating with business partners at all organizational levels.
  9. Preferred candidates will have knowledge and/or experience with both waterfall and agile delivery methodologies.
  10. Outstanding organizational, professional presentation, time management, and prioritization skills.
  11. Expertise and experience with Human Capital Management, Enterprise Resource Planning, and Financial Systems, particularly in data migration activities and designing integrations with other enterprise systems is an advantage.
