Job Title: Regional Laboratory Technologist

Join the Government of Nunavut as a Regional Laboratory Technologist and contribute to delivering high-quality laboratory services to the Kivalliq Health Center and other health agencies in Nunavut.

About the Role

The Regional Laboratory Technologist works under the supervision of the Manager, Regional Laboratory Services, to provide laboratory services in Chemistry, Hematology, Transfusion Medicine, Molecular, and Specimen Receiving/Processing. The incumbent analyzes samples, conducts individual patient tests, and recognizes normal and atypical findings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver laboratory services to the Kivalliq Health Center and other health agencies in Nunavut
  • Analyze samples and conduct individual patient tests using complex laboratory instrumentation and manual techniques
  • Recognize normal and atypical findings and initiate appropriate action
  • Take the lead in examining and analyzing biological samples using recognized international laboratory practices
  • Review, verify, and release patient results through the Laboratory Information System (Meditech)
Requirements

The successful candidate will have a diploma or degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from a Canadian College or University and be certified with the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science with a General Certificate in all areas (RT). Experience in all areas of laboratory will be considered a major asset. Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land, and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.
