Software Development Manager, RDS SQL Server Commercial Engine

The AWS Relational Database Service is a rapidly growing business, providing automated relational database management in the cloud. Our customers can set up a new database with ease, and complex administrative tasks like scaling, fail-over, and monitoring are handled by our control systems.
Key ResponsibilitiesTo succeed in this role, you will be responsible for:
- Designing and architecting scalable and reliable systems to manage huge numbers of databases.
- Leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services, ensuring high-quality software and hardware development.
We are looking for an experienced engineering leader with:
- 3+ years of team management experience.
- 7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams.
- 3+ years of designing or architecting systems experience.
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services experience.
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle.
We also prefer candidates with experience in:
- Communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership.
- Recruiting, hiring, mentoring, and managing teams of Software Engineers.
