We are seeking a knowledgeable Procurement Specialist to enhance our Indal division. In this role, you will take charge of negotiating and overseeing the acquisition of essential materials, as well as managing subcontracting processes. You will play a key role in developing new supplier relationships and collaborating with our Engineering team to address technical specifications. Your expertise in various commodity categories will be invaluable in supporting our supply chain, quality assurance, and engineering departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with suppliers to secure optimal quality, timely delivery, and competitive pricing.
- Issue and manage Purchase Orders in line with established policies and procedures.
- Procure materials and services to support production goals using approved vendors.
- Monitor supplier performance to meet procurement objectives regarding cost, delivery, and quality.
- Contribute to the enhancement of supply chain processes to boost efficiency.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify and resolve supply chain challenges to fulfill commitments.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to address product-related issues.
- Negotiate supplier contracts, including long-term agreements.
- Work with suppliers to drive Continuous Improvement and Operational Excellence initiatives.
- Utilize supply chain methodologies to identify suitable suppliers based on their capabilities to meet specifications.
- Evaluate engineering designs to ensure manufacturability and alignment with supplier capabilities.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as necessary to support business objectives.
Qualifications:
- University degree or college diploma in a relevant field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement or a related discipline.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience with business systems such as MRP/MTO/SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP platforms.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with minimal oversight.
- Knowledge of Government Procurement Regulations (Controlled Goods, ITAR).
- Understanding of Continuous Improvement principles and practices.
- Experience in developing commodity strategies.
- Project management experience, including negotiation and expediting skills.
- Eligibility to meet the requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CPG) and obtain a Canadian government security clearance.
