Under the supervision of the Maternal Services Manager, the nursing professional will be tasked with evaluating, planning, executing, and reviewing patient care and nursing activities within the framework of quality assurance and in alignment with Northern Health's mission.

The responsibilities of this position are shaped by the requirements of the healthcare facility, a specific patient/family demographic, organizational expectations, and the objectives for professional nursing practice.

Work Schedule: Rotating shifts, including Days and Nights, from 07:00 to 19:00 and 19:00 to 07:00.

Northern Health serves as the primary Acute Care institution in the Northern region, acting as a center for specialized health services.

Educational Institution:

  • Facilitates undergraduate medical training through a partnership with the University of British Columbia and the University of Northern British Columbia.
  • Hosts residents in the Family Practice Residency Program.
  • Serves as a vital clinical training site for nursing and various health sciences students from multiple educational institutions.

  • Expansion of patient care facilities, including an upgraded emergency department and modernized ICU.
  • Advanced maternal-child care center featuring a dedicated neonatal ICU.
  • Facilities designed to support undergraduate medical training.

Qualifications

  • Current registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN.
  • Completion of postgraduate courses relevant to the service assignment within the last five years or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Skills and Competencies:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to ensure safe and competent patient care.
  • Capacity to build and maintain productive working relationships with healthcare team members.
  • Proficient in maintaining positive public relations with patients' families and friends.
  • Ability to recognize and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Physical capability to fulfill the duties of the position.
  • Proficient in operating relevant medical equipment.
