Job Summary:
The Medical Radiation Technologist – Nuclear Medicine is a key member of the Diagnostic Imaging Department at Sault Area Hospital. This role is responsible for the efficient and effective completion of ordered Nuclear Medicine examinations and the day-to-day operation of the area to which they are assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform imaging and in-vivo non-imaging and in-vitro procedures under the direction of the Technical Supervisor and Medical Directors.
- Conduct quality assurance procedures and report any significant changes.
- Provide appropriate patient preparation and care.
- Prepare and dispense radiopharmaceutical kits and generators.
- Administer radiopharmaceutical doses with proper venipuncture and maintain accurate records.
- Maintain the radiopharmaceutical laboratory, including receiving, logging, storing, and disposal.
- Follow appropriate protection procedures and adhere to regulatory guidelines.
- Perform decontamination procedures and maintain equipment and work areas.
- Assist in organizing daily workloads and perform general office duties.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Graduate from an Accredited School of Medical Radiation Technology (Nuclear Medicine)
- Registration in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario
- Registration in Nuclear Medicine
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently as a team member in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and telephone skills
- Computer literacy in a Microsoft environment
- Ability to maintain successful working relationships with the interdisciplinary team
- Ability to organize time effectively to perform duties
- Ability to read, write, and communicate to perform duties
Knowledge and Skills:
- Scintillation cameras
- Survey meters
- Scintillation counters and probes
- Dose calibrators
- Computer
- Sound knowledge of all Nuclear Medicine Procedures as ordered by a qualified practitioner
