Job Summary:

The Pharmacy Manager is a key member of the Pharmacy leadership team, responsible for the management of daily operations in the Pharmacy department. This includes drug distribution, medication management, narcotic and controlled substance oversight, centralized intravenous additive program, human resources, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement department processes to ensure efficient operations and high-quality care.
  • Manage staff and lead a high-performance culture through effective management strategies.
  • Collaborate with health care professionals to achieve business goals and optimize interdisciplinary team functioning.
  • Ensure adherence to legislation and professional standards, and maintain high-quality care.
  • Manage budgets and monitor costs associated with pharmaceutical projections and utilization.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy (or equivalent entry-to-practice degree).
  • Current registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
  • Minimum of 5 years of pharmacy hospital practice with supervisory, management, or leadership experience.
  • Advanced Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D) from a recognized university, an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, time management, leadership skills, project management skills.
  • Excellent change management, organizational planning, assessment and evaluation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with health care professionals.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead effectively and create a high-performance culture through management strategies that facilitate growth and development.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of hospital functions and current trends in health care.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a unionized environment.
  • Proven conflict management/resolution skills.
  • Proven ability to critically analyze and problem-solve.
  • Understanding of Accreditation Canada and Ontario College of Pharmacists Hospital Inspection standards and processes.

The Pharmacy Manager will work in a fast-paced hospital environment, collaborating with health care professionals to achieve business goals and optimize interdisciplinary team functioning.
