Position Title: US Payroll Specialist

Location: Remote, USA or Canada

Position Summary:

The Payroll Specialist plays a vital role in our organization, supporting a workforce of over 1,100 employees across the United States. This role is accountable for the accurate processing and review of semi-monthly and bi-weekly payroll, ensuring adherence to both company policies and legal regulations.

As a subject matter expert in payroll operations, the Payroll Specialist will manage payroll administration while collaborating with various departments. This position serves as a key contact for employee inquiries related to payroll matters. Candidates should possess comprehensive payroll experience with Dayforce (Ceridian) and demonstrate the ability to multitask and work autonomously. A high level of integrity, meticulous attention to detail, and effective time management skills are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute full cycle payroll processing and related activities in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Handle irregular payments, including bonuses, leave top-ups, commissions, and termination payments.
  • Review employee timecards for accuracy within the time and attendance system.
  • Manage garnishments and respond to employment verification requests as necessary.
  • Oversee and reconcile employee benefits deductions and employer contributions in Dayforce.
  • Prepare and submit 401K and HSA contribution files, ensuring accurate journal entries.
  • Communicate payroll timelines and requirements to relevant departments for timely payroll input.
  • Assist in the preparation of W-2 forms and annual reconciliations.
  • Support internal and external audits, including compliance with government and third-party payroll audit standards.
  • Maintain and update payroll documentation to support US payroll processes.
  • Address employee inquiries regarding payroll by researching policies and providing timely resolutions.
  • Offer insights and recommendations for process enhancements to improve efficiency and foster continuous improvement.
Required Experience:
  • At least 3 years of experience in full cycle payroll administration.
  • A minimum of 1 year of recent experience with Dayforce (Ceridian).
  • Strong understanding of payroll practices and US legislation.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Capable of handling confidential information with professionalism and ethics.
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent business experience is preferred.
  • Payroll Professional designation is an asset.

Compensation: $68,000 - $73,000 annually

At PointClickCare, the base salary is just one component of our comprehensive rewards package. The salary range for this position reflects the target for new hires across all locations in Canada. Individual compensation is determined based on job-related skills, relevant experience, and work location.
