Medical Device Reprocessing Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Device Reprocessing Technician to join our team at Groves Memorial Community Hospital. As a key member of our MDRD Department, you will be responsible for the reprocessing of patient care equipment and instruments for use in operating room, endoscopy, and other patient care areas.
Key Responsibilities- Collect and process contaminated/soiled equipment, instruments, and trays, and return them to the MDRD Department.
- Clean and terminally decontaminate surgical instruments and other reusable equipment in accordance with established departmental protocols.
- Operate washer-disinfectors, cart washer, and sonic cleaner for decontamination of all instruments and equipment.
- Dismantle, clean, inspect, and reassemble equipment/instruments prior to sterilization.
- Ensure supplies/trays are wrapped correctly in sterilization wrapper/pouch and labeled with the appropriate sterilization tape.
- Load, unload, and monitor the parameters of sterilizers.
- Perform and document biological testing on all sterilization equipment.
- Carry out all sterilization procedures and related duties in accordance with established standards for sterilizers.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Perform all work in a safe and proper manner in accordance with Groves Memorial Community Hospital principles and protocols and all legislative requirements.
- Successful completion of a Sterile Processing Certificate.
- Successful completion of a Certified Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (CSA) certificate.
- Experience with medical terminology is an asset.
- Minimum 1 year hospital work experience in sterile processing techniques and preparation of medical supplies and equipment.
- Knowledge of surgical instrumentation.
- Knowledge of routine infection control practices.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency (Windows and Internet).
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision and as a team member.
- Positive work and attendance record is essential.
- Satisfactory performance and attendance required.
- Satisfactory Reference Checks required prior to start date.
- Must provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Must complete a Pre-Employment Health Assessment prior to being hired.
This is a temporary full-time position with a variable schedule, including days, evenings, and weekends. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a high level of productivity and accuracy.
