Community Support Specialist

The Community Support Specialist plays a vital role in the management of a food assistance program and aids in the allocation of contributions.

  • WORK SCHEDULE:
  • 16 Hours per week

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • General Support:
  • Coordinates tasks with adaptability and assists in family support services.
  • Engages with clients, processes new client intakes, and inputs data into the tracking system.
  • Maintains facility security and shares the message of hope with clients.
  • Supports reporting and administrative tasks.
  • Embraces the mission and values of The Salvation Army.
  • Donation Management:
  • Organizes and replenishes items in the food assistance pantry.
  • Manages bread recycling and ensures proper donation rotation.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Education, Qualifications, and Certifications:

  • Completion of High School.
  • WHMIS certification.
  • Alternative educational backgrounds and experiences may be considered.

Experience and Skills:

  • Up to one year of relevant experience.

Skills and Competencies:

Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and integrity.Professional ethics and impartiality.

PREFERRED SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

Leadership Responsibilities:

Reports to the Community Support Program Coordinator.No direct supervisory responsibilities.

Resource Management:

Minor responsibility for materials.Utilizes and cares for organizational resources.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Involves operational tasks and some physical activity.Must be able to lift items weighing up to 30 pounds.May encounter various conditions and tasks.

Successful candidates may need to consent to background checks, vulnerable sector screening, maintain a clean driving record, and complete online training.
