Big Viking Games is a next-generation, live operations games company that has been making fans since its humble beginnings in 2011. We are focused on delivering outstanding products and are seeking a highly skilled Senior Unity Engineer to join our dynamic development team.

Job Summary

We are looking for a talented Senior Unity Engineer to play a pivotal role in the design, development, and optimization of our projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Unity and C# programming, with a strong background in developing high-quality games or applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development lifecycle for Unity-based projects, from concept to delivery.
  • Collaborate with designers, artists, and other engineers to implement new features and enhance existing ones.
  • Ensure applications are optimized for maximum speed and scalability across various platforms.
  • Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of learning and growth.
  • Conduct code reviews to maintain high-quality code standards and best practices.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues promptly.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Contribute to project planning, estimation, and risk management to meet deadlines and deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain automated testing frameworks to ensure code quality and reliability.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors to ensure outsourced work meets our quality standards.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in Unity development.
  • Minimum of 3 published games.
  • Previous experience in a senior or lead engineering role.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Expert proficiency in Unity and C# programming.
    • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns.
    • Experience with 3D/2D game mechanics, physics, animation, and UI development.
    • Proficient with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN).
    • Knowledge of mobile and web pipelines.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
    • Proven leadership and mentorship capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with multiplayer/networking technologies.
  • Familiarity with shader programming and graphics optimization techniques.
  • Previous experience working on a MMO.
  • Previous experience working with ActionScript.
